DEFINITION

Under general supervision, collects, analyzes, prepares and disseminates statistical information concerning actual and anticipated criminal activity; and performs related duties as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The Crime Analyst is a specialized class performing a variety of data compilation, coding, analysis and manipulation to produce statistical summaries of such elements as incidents in specific geographic areas, types of offenses, incidents and offenses in participating agencies, specific Modus Operandi, pawn activities and similar information. The incumbent modifies databases to produce both periodic and special reports for both the Sheriff's Office and for participating local cities.
