Who We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Crime and Intelligence Analyst. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing professional crime and intelligence related studies. The incumbent should have experience in producing, preparing, and presenting various types of reports to assist officers and administrative staff in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention, intervention, and suppression of criminal activities. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in crime analysis and have great attention to detail. They will also be self sufficient and well organized. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently with minimum direction but is also a team player. He or she will be resourceful and communicate effectively.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the journey-level specialized professional Analyst class assigned to the Police Department.  Incumbents are expected to independently perform responsible and professional level crime analysis and research, exercise independent judgement in selecting study approach, analysis techniques, and making recommendations based on study results.   Positions in specialized Analyst classes perform substantive and complex work in one or more functional areas that typically require specialized knowledge of the assigned department’s operations and a particular industry and/or field of study. Positions in specialized Analyst classes are responsible for exercising judgment, influence, and expertise to make decisions and recommendations as they relate to the department’s operations in areas which may include, but are not limited to: providing support in functional areas of operations and/or administration; program/operational analysis; project/program management; cost control, legislative analysis, contract administration, budget, space management/fixed asset control, etc. The Criminal Intelligence Analyst is distinguished from other specialized Analyst classes by its allocation to the Police Department, serving as a professional-level resource for a variety of crime and intelligence-related analyses and studies.
